So the walking is starting!!

Maceo has found the mail slot!

Maceo has found the mail slot and is very excited about putting all kinds of things in this handy cubby! Check out this video of him putting a ball in there! Notice how he uses his mouth to steady the ball! So cute!

Jack in the Box

One of Maceo's good friends gave him this Jack in the box for his birthday!

First!

Well I feel compelled to document the fact that Maceo peed on his potty today for the first time!!! He was so cute, I sat him on the potty and he hung out there for about 5 minutes and at one point he did the "i just peed" shiver and TODAH!! pee! Opie and I got super excited ( I think we surprised him a little) and he was super interested in seeing it get flushed. Anyway, I also want to say that Maceo officially now has three teeth as well. And today Opie came to me and said "your son almost took his first steps", he is so close to walking, he is now standing and looking around..not so sure what to do next! Grandma and Grandpa are coming this weekend perhaps he will walk for them!

Shoes Shoes Shoes

One of Maceo's favorite things are shoes, he loves the laces he love licking the soles (we don't encourage this behavior). In this video which was taken late August I let Maceo into the shoe closet, watch closely at the beginning and you will see his hopping move...

No Pictures Please

Maceo has been really really interested in the camera lately. Every time we try and take a photo or video he attacks the cameras as if he were a celebrity and we were the paparazzi!

Company Picnic

This year we had the company picnic at an amusement park and it was super fun to watch Maceo check out the rides. Here are some photos of him checking out the rides and showing everyone his melon!

Playing around

These videos were taken the first week of August and Maceo is quickly becoming a busy body! He also loves to pull himself up on stuff. Check out in the second video that his "brrr" is more of a "BR" now...

Still Teething and Laughing

So Maceo at this writing has 2 and 1/2 teeth, I say 1/2 because the third has not quite poked out of he skin but it is really close. It feels like we were teething all Summer, here is some great video during the first week of August of Maceo laughing and teething on the chair!!

Pickle Time

First week of August, we started to brine pickles..they turned out pretty good..about 3 weeks later! Here is also a picture of some cute cupcakes I made for one of our friends birthdays and of course here is Maceo looking very stylish for Summer.

Berry Picking!!

July 26th-
We went berry picking!! So much fun! Maceo's first time berry picking and he loved riding in the wagon. The buckets they provided had a rope attached and Maceo held the rope like a cowboy the whole time we were pulling him along! He also loved the chickens on the farm and of course the berries, he ate so many, really almost too many. He also got a nice big chunk of dirt to nibble on..yummmy....Turns out that I suck at berry picking, but Opie did a great job and we came home with a good amount of blueberries (one of Maceos favorites, fresh or frozen)

Maco figures it out and the Orchid Saga continues

July 19th -Here is a picture of Maceo looking very pleased with himself because he has just figured out how to pull himself up to standing using the couch. Here is also a picture of our lovely orchid (look way back to the beginning of this blog and you will get some history on the orchid) blooming 10 blooms, this orchid still has 9 blooms and it is September 7th as I am writing this!

Summer Bounty

This year we decided to get a farm share from Wobbly Cart Farm in Washington. It has been wonderful! Every Tuesday we pick up a box of produce and I make sure that Maceo gets to check it out before we put it in the fridge. This box came around mid July and Maceo decided that a pea pod was the thing to grab, he looked like he was going for the beautiful tiny strawberries, but nope he went for the pea!

Hot Summer Days

It never got too hot this Summer but on the few days when we got up to close to 100 degrees, Opie would pull out the deluxe kiddie pool for Maceo (the one we used to store Summer clothes in the Winter). Maceo loves the water and this was not exception! We also took Maceo to the concerts in the park that are right around the corner from our house. I don't remember the band but it was fun to sit out with the neighbors and listen to music while having a picnic.

Big Day

First week of July
Well these videos were taken on the same day...both an exciting and mellow day.. one video is of Maceo reading a magazine, he had been flipping through it for a couple of minutes when I couldn't stand it any longer and got the camera. The other video is of him figuring out that if he pulled the balloon string the balloon would move. The balloon in general blew his mind, he wasn't sure if he should be nervous about that thing in the air or just over the top excited. When we got it in the store he panted and waved his arms around like crazy, and when it came in the car with us he looked at it and me like we both were plain crazy! (sorry about the sidways video but it's kinda trippy!)

Signs...

We have been teaching Maceo sign language since he was about 7 months old, and while Opie and I continue to learn new signs, Maceo has only really used one so far (although he understands most of the ones we use). Opie and I can say the following in sign language: milk, music, tree, plane,spider,all the colors, butterfly, rain, wind, cloud, sleepy, diaper change, pain, mama, daddy, grandma, grandpa, friend, play, hungry, water, plane and the most important sign....BIRD!! Maceo's first word and first sign...one day we were signing bird to him and he put his hand in the air looked out the window and said "brrrrr" really softly and seriously. Here is a picture of him doing the same thing in the yard. We have a ton of crows that live in our neighboorhood and they are so dynamic for him to watch, these big black loud creatures its no wonder that "brrrr" would be his first word! If you listen really close to the video you can hear him say "brrr" and listen to how loud the crows are!!

Eating!

Maceo has really got the eating thing down! Here is a picture of him in July eating a plum, he would just grab it and use those two bottom teeth to scrap pieces in his mouth. Check out how much plum he ate! Over the last couple of months he has eaten almost everything under the sun from pancakes to watermelon!!

Where did it all go!!

WOW the Summer just slipped through my fingertips!! Maceo has changed so much since the last post! We are almost at his 1st birthday and I don't know where the year has gone, I feel as though it was just a week ago that he came into our lives. I have been thinking alot about his birth, as we get closer to his birthday, and I have to say how proud I am of myself and of Maceo for making that amazing journey. I am also extremely proud of Opie for being so strong for the 10 months it took to bring Maceo into this world and for his patience during the last few days when I leaned on him more then anyone. Thank you Opie! Thank you for being a wonderful father and en extraordinary husband!! We love you! I am going to attempt to put some pics from this Summer up and then some from our most recent trip!

First Beach Trip!!

On Sunday June 20th we went to the Oregon coast and stayed in a yurt. We were lucky and got a yurt at Nehalem Bay Campground just south of Manzanita (they share a beach) and here is some video of Maceo getting his feet (and his pants!) wet..it was so beautiful there!!

CRAWLING!!!

Well here it is!! The first video of Maceo really moving across the floor! Yesterday he was moving about a foot and today look at him go!!!!! Watch out world here we come!! This whole process is truly so amazing to witness, I am so excited and proud!! More to come!!

Laughing and sit ups!

Boy o boy Maceo is learning how to multitask, watch him in this video laugh and keep the pacifier in his mouth while he is doing push ups and rocking on his knee's, I have to say this stage is super fun. Maceo has an amazing sense of humor, and is truly becoming quite the flirt.

Oh my goodness over the last few days Maceo is really showing signs of getting ready to crawl!! Check out those push ups, almost doing the yoga pose downward dog!! ps we also finally have a tooth!! although getting a picture of it is near impossible!!
